Phase 1: Complete Prerequisites
Get your mail service ready to install your gateway
Before you can install and use your gateway, you will need to complete a few prerequisites. This includes planning your mail flow and configuring a Kubernetes cluster or Linux Server to host your Gateway. A full list of prerequisites can be found here.
Configure Branding (Optional)
You can add your logo and colors to Virtru Hosted Gateway. This step is optional, but it is a great way to ensure the Gateway experience reflects your organization’s unique brand.
Phase 2: Install your Virtru Gateway
Install the Virtru Outbound Gateway you will need
Note: To complete installation you will need an HMAC token. The Deployment Engineer assigned to your account will provide this to you.
Phase 3: Configure Mail Rules to Route Traffic to the Gateway
Once your gateway is installed, you then need to configure your routing rules to route traffic to it.
The process will look a little different depending on if you purchased a user gateway or application gateway.

Note: You’ll need to configure outbound encrypt rules to route traffic to your gateway. If you plan to leverage an inbound decrypt gateway, you will also need to configure inbound rules.

Application Gateway (Salesforce, Zendesk, etc.)
Additional configuration is needed if you purchased an Application Gateway to encrypt traffic going in and out of SaaS Applications.

Best Practice Callout: Leverage your routing rules to test your gateway with a small test or pilot group. This will ensure everything is working as expected before you route more production traffic to the gateway.
