New Outlook Integration Strengthens Security and Mitigates Risk

With Virtru in place, enterprises with hybrid platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, and Exchange can seamlessly add an incremental layer of end-to-end encryption across every user and any device.

“Enterprise cybersecurity is complex, but Virtru’s new Microsoft add-in is incredibly easy to deploy across companies of all sizes—from small businesses to the largest global enterprises—while delivering robust security to safeguard your most vital data, anywhere that data is shared,” said John Ackerly, CEO, Virtru. “Cyber attacks, like those impacting Colonial Pipeline and Microsoft Exchange Server, are becoming increasingly sophisticated and frequent. It’s critical that enterprises make cybersecurity a priority.”

The foundation of the new Microsoft 365 Outlook add-in is the open Trusted Data Format (TDF) standard, invented by Virtru co-founder Will Ackerly. Virtru’s data encryption allows enterprises to share data as they wish without losing control of that data.

“Cyber attacks, like those impacting Colonial Pipeline and Microsoft Exchange Server, are becoming increasingly sophisticated and frequent. It’s critical that enterprises make cybersecurity a priority.” – John Ackerly, Virtru CEO

TDF protects a wide range of data sources and formats, including spreadsheets, presentations, documents, email messages, audio, video, images, and columnar data. Importantly, unstructured data sources empowering today’s digital transformations are also included, such as raw sensor data, drone video, facial recognition, and audio stream. Federal government agencies moving to adopt the Zero Trust recommendations outlined in Executive Order 14028 can leverage Virtru’s encryption as part of their cybersecurity and data protection strategy.

Virtru-encrypted data can be controlled anywhere and everywhere it’s shared, on prem or in the cloud, with access immediately revocable from both the client and the server side. With cryptographically protected policies attached to the data, Virtru’s TDF supports all data security regulatory standards.

Virtru’s Data Encryption business benefits for Microsoft 365 Outlook include:

    • Strengthen Microsoft Outlook security
    • Control access to business data, even after it’s left your organization
    • Protect data regardless of application
    • Enable business alignment
    • Mitigate risk and preserve privacy
    • Reduce time to deploy, train and use
