Full Japanese Version of Virtru Data Protection Solutions and Expanded Partner Network Enable Japanese Enterprises to Easily Protect Their Data Wherever It’s Created or Shared
Virtru, a leading data protection platform provider that stands at the intersection of security and privacy, today announced the launch of Japanese versions of Virtru Data Protection, its encryption and key management solutions for cloud applications, such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google G Suite. Building on its successful partnership with SoftBank, Virtru also announced the expansion of its Virtru Velocity Partner Program in Japan, extending Virtru’s reach to help organizations realize the true potential of their data while protecting it from misuse, abuse and theft.
Virtru was founded in 2012 by Will Ackerly, formerly the lead cloud security architect at the US National Security Agency (NSA), and John Ackerly, his brother and former technology adviser at the White House. Leveraging the Trusted Data Format (TDF) created by Will Ackerly while he was at the NSA, Virtru helps thousands of organizations worldwide protect data wherever it’s created or shared.
Yusuke Watanabe, Executive Officer & General Manager of the Cloud Integration Division at Densan System Co., Ltd. said, “With the spread of cloud services these days, data protection is very important for society, businesses, and individuals. We are confident that Virtru’s encrypted email and file sharing solutions with a Japanese user interface will have a significant impact on Internet privacy and security in Japan.”
The percentage of Japanese enterprises migrating to the cloud has grown from 33.1% in 2013 to 56.9% in 2017. This rapid expansion exposes organizations’ data to new risks associated with hosting, application usage, and sharing inside and outside of corporate networks. Existing data protection solutions are difficult to use and cannot sufficiently protect data in cloud and hybrid environments. “Data-centric” protection has become an urgent global priority, and Virtru was created to help meet this challenge. Virtru’s protection travels with the data, enabling privacy through persistent enforcement and access control across all environments and applications.
“I have seen first-hand in government and leading Virtru how state and non-state actors work to disrupt businesses and governments by exploiting networks and gaining unfettered access to data. No country will be more tested than Japan in the run-up to the July 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We are thrilled to deepen our investment in Japan through localized products and the extension of our partner network. Our goal is to help organizations move beyond traditional approaches to privacy, so they can spark innovation and foster a more secure digital world,” said John Ackerly, CEO of Virtru.
